Hurry up on signing for alpha! Maybe there wont be a planet soon

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Hurry up on those alpha registrations will ya? according to BBC the Large Hadron Collider based in geneva LHC will ‘maybe’ produce mini black holes or unknown material that will ‘maybe’ consume the earth into a hot lump of unknown material or just transport us into limbo land.

The organization - known better by its French acronym, Cern - will operate the collider underground in a 27km-long tunnel near Geneva.

Most physicists believe the risk of a cataclysm lies in the realms of science fiction. But there have been fears about the possibility of a mini-black hole - produced in the collider - swelling so that it gobbles up the Earth.

This Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a powerful and complicated machine, which will smash together protons at super-fast speeds in a bid to unlock the secrets of the Universe in hope that a catastrophic incident involving a black hole and some scientists running screaming ‘Its happening!’ wont actually happen.

scary stuff, hurry on that alpha signups, we might release our next version in a galaxy far far away.

Handy dandy Firefox 2 and 3 !

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Good people of firefox can now run both of them at the same time with MultiFireFox application. Turns out all the issue of running firefox 3.0 and 2.0 at the same time was profiling being loaded and re-loaded everytime you load firefox at diffrent verrsions. Now you can use this handy application from codecontortionist.com to load a specific profile with firefox so you can enjoy version 2.0 and 3.0 at the same time. Great tool. Great solution. Stright to my dock. (OSX only).

Facebook application gone wild!

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

With 55 million active members worldwide (as of November 2007), Facebook’s social networking site allows you to create and share your applications with a massive and growing community of users. Amazon Web Services enables you to quickly implement your ideas for Facebook applications by providing an inexpensive, scalable computing platform. Using these infrastructure web services, your Facebook application is able to reach “web-scale” by scaling up and down seamlessly as demand dictates — with pay-as-you-go pricing and no upfront costs.

I didnt know it, but turns out that facebook signed with Amazon and Joynet for facebook application hosting. They give great tutorials about it. in a nutshell:

reasonable thing and downloaded the latest version. although its a far better version then what we used with a rock solid code, nifty features and a slick user interface i just dont understand what is the difference between a category and a tag.

Why Google Analytics is good for you

Friday, June 13th, 2008

We at devunity decided that keeping statistics is important for you. Since our early days with i4giveu.com and betabug we used to work with the hosted applications for website statistics like webstat and others. Don’t get me wrong, using those apps is a proper solution. you don’t have to integrate nothing, it just breaks apart your logs and give you a proper statistics. basic ones. but proper. (more…)

Where did betabug go?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Yes, the day has come, We moved betabug and merged all of the existing projects to devunity. We kept everything in tact. No links have been changed and all you need todo is just log-in with your existing betabug account to devunity and continue working.

Some changes:

  • Widget - You will need to update your widget, we got a much nicer one now, Please do so. its available under the bugs page.
  • Mass delete - You can now delete alot of bugs at once without having to go thru all of them.
  • Quicker Lightbox open bug module - You don’t have to go into big pages and wait to open a bug. You can now just click from anywhere on your project and an overlay new bug screen will appear. Post and viola.
  • Code - Want to take it to the next stage? Use the full capabilities of devunity and import your code. Open bugs attached to code segments. Manage your todos and much more.

If you find any issue with the transition from betabug to devunity or you dont understand something feel free to mail us at info@devunity.com
